Job Description

Avigilon (TSX: AVO) provides trusted security solutions to the global market. Avigilon designs, develops, and manufactures video analytics, network video management software and hardware, surveillance cameras, and access control solutions. Avigilon’s solutions have been installed at thousands of customer sites, including school campuses, transportation systems, healthcare centers, public venues, critical infrastructure, prisons, factories, casinos, airports, financial institutions, government facilities, and retailers.

 

Position Overview:

 

As part of our software engineering team, you will participate in the creation of the next generation of Avigilon's market-leading ACC video surveillance and ACM building access control products. These products are key components of Avigilon’s end to end building surveillance and security offerings. They include high throughput networking, video storage and processing, as well as network security. The successful candidate will be:

 

Responsibilities include:

  • A member of a scrum team responsible for multiple areas of our product offerings
  • Overseeing the design, creation, maintenance, and delivery of code in a Windows .net or Linux environment
  • Responsible for the architecture, design, and delivery of concurrent, networked, software components
  • Using C++ to produce robust, high performance, application software 

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline
  • 5+ years of software development experience
  • A demonstrated ability to work in small teams responsible for feature delivery and code maintenance
  • Demonstrated C++ design and programming ability (v11 and v14)
  • Strong knowledge of real-time, multithreaded operating systems, applications and concepts
  • Strong knowledge of IP networking applications and concepts
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

Preference will be given to candidates with the following skills and experience: 

  • Knowledge of digital video or audio encoding, standards, and concepts
  • Exposure to Agile software development practices
  • Experience using boost
  • A demonstrated pragmatic approach to problem solving
