Job Description

Avigilon (TSX: AVO) provides trusted security solutions to the global market. Avigilon designs, develops, and manufactures video analytics, network video management software and hardware, surveillance cameras, and access control solutions. Avigilon’s solutions have been installed at thousands of customer sites, including school campuses, transportation systems, healthcare centers, public venues, critical infrastructure, prisons, factories, casinos, airports, financial institutions, government facilities, and retailers.

 

Position Overivew:

We make cameras. Not just any cameras, either; we manufacture cutting edge, industry-leading products that push the boundaries of what is possible today. Our products help to secure critical infrastructure around the world. To do this, we build and assemble our products in our Richmond, BC and Plano, TX manufacturing facilities.

 

Testing and automation are crucial to our manufacturing success. We're looking for a software developer that gets hardware and can help us deliver PCBA and product level manufacturing tools, as well as help us automate manufacturing processes and conduct data analysis. 

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Working with Manufacturing Engineers and R&D Engineers to design, develop, implement, and maintain robust test and process automation solutions;
  • Support existing software applications, and architect and design next generation applications;
  • Develop software interfaces for custom test fixtures and other devices for integration with a Manufacturing Execution System (MES);
  • Continuously improve and maintain the manufacturing application and MES interface modules for supporting new products;
  • Develop new tools and automation to allow ME team to operate more efficiently and scale production as the business grows.

Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science
  • 5 years of experience in a software development role; preferably internal tools development
  • Good understanding of electronics, electronic manufacturing, and manufacturing process
  • Strong .NET (C#, VB), C++, or Java design and coding skills
  • Experience with design verification
  • Experience with Python (or other scripting languages)
  • Experience with version control systems
  • Experience with GUI development and usability engineering concepts
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills 

Preference will be given to candidates with the following skills and experience:

  • SQL Database design and implementation experience
  • Experience implementing C/C++ code and shell scripts on embedded targets
  • Experience in a manufacturing company
  • Knowledge of digital imaging/photography and audio/video coding
