Job Description

Manager of IT Infrastructure

Vancouver, Canada

 

Under the general direction of the Senior Manager of IT Operations, the Manager, IT Infrastructure is responsible for the operational oversight of the IT Network, Security and Infrastructure groups within the department. The Manager leads a team of technical specialists that develop, implement, administer and maintain the technical infrastructure for Avigilon including telecommunications, wired and wireless networks and related equipment, data centers, (servers and data storage) and other technical services. This position is also responsible for recommending and implementing enterprise architecture software and services.

 

The Manager provides leadership in planning, developing, promoting and evaluating the effectiveness of Avigilon’s information security systems. The Manager is responsible for ensuring effective information security policies and architecture, overseeing vulnerability audits and assessments, and for leading and/or participating in investigations into information security breaches and incident response activities. In addition, the Manager works closely with the Senior Manager IT Operations and the rest of senior management to achieve higher levels of security of systems and information resources.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Technical and administrative leadership of IT Network, Security and Infrastructure personnel across multiple locations
  • Accountability for the availability, performance, relevance and cost effectiveness of corporate infrastructure including, but not limited to, server, storage, networking, wireless, information security, voice and collaboration systems, Active Directory, and our data centers
  • Vendor and strategic partner management
  • Assisting in budget management and purchase request generation
  • ITSM ticket management and delegation to appropriate staff. Ensuring all tickets are addressed and resolved in an appropriate and timely manner
  • Coordination of system and application upgrades with appropriate departments and team members
  • Client PC patch management using WSUS
  • Developing and maintaining strong collaborative, service oriented relationships with key business stakeholders
  • Ensuring incident response and management protocols and process are effectively and consistently followed, developing new policies where required
  • Work with the Senior Manager IT Operations, and other Systems Administrators to identify, prioritize and execute projects and initiatives
  • Working with the Senior Manager IT Operations to create and communicate strategic technical direction
  • Hiring of and ongoing performance management of Infrastructure staff members
  • Other duties as required

 

Qualifications:

 

  • 5-7 years Information Technology experience working in an enterprise environment (500+ staff) with an emphasis in IT infrastructure
  • Experience with ITIL, Incident, Problem and Change Management
  • Experience as a team lead or manager of technical staff
  • Ability to influence others to achieve results
  • Driven and outgoing self-starter
  • Ability to excel in a results driven, high performance environment
  • Knowledge of IT security best practices
  • Clear and concise communicator including public speaking
  • Ability to: prepare meaningful, accurate and concise reports, stay abreast of current technologies in area of IT responsibilities assigned, define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions, provide technical advice, guidance, and recommendations to management and other technical specialists on IT issues
  • Excellent troubleshooting and mentoring skills
  • Must be available for 7x24 support in the event of scheduled and unscheduled downtime
  • Ability and initiative to learn about new technologies, hardware and software products and relate to how the new services would benefit the enterprise
  • Must be able to adapt to a fast-paced, multi-faceted environment with numerous interruptions
