Manufacturing Engineering Manager

Avigilon designs, develops, and manufactures video analytics, network video management software and hardware, surveillance cameras, and access control solutions. Avigilon’s solutions have been installed at thousands of customer sites, including school campuses, transportation systems, healthcare centers, public venues, critical infrastructure, prisons, factories, casinos, airports, financial institutions, government facilities, and retailers.


Reporting to the Site Operations Director, the Manufacturing Engineering Manager will lead the site’s Manufacturing Engineering team responsible for Production support.  The team includes manufacturing, test and SMT process engineers. 


The Manufacturing Engineering Manager is also responsible for collaborating on global manufacturing engineering initiatives including NPIs, process, test and improvement efforts and providing feedback on said initiatives. 


Major local (site) objectives include improving manufacturing operational efficiency, SMED, ergonomics of work stations/cells/flow lines, implementing standard work and Lean practices, improving product quality and reducing manufacturing costs.  This is a “working manager” position.


Responsibilities include:

  • Mentors, develops, manages and evaluates team members
  • Primary responsibility is to make certain all production commitments are met through ensuring functional and proper tooling, fixtures and jigs and working processes are employed in the factory
  • Provide project management for site initiatives including but not limited to NPI and continuous improvement projects
  • Ensure objectives and timelines are met; meet with engineering or production personnel as required to complete projects
  • Provide input to product development team during the design phase of new products, assess process requirements and provide guidance
  • Executes PFMEA and DOE as required to ensure proper process implementation and optimization
  • Analyze performance metrics for processes. Look for negative trends or anomalies over time and pursue continual improvement
  • Apply professional process engineering and related manufacturing principles and practices to examine potential changes to equipment and methods
  • Interprets and applies department policies and procedures and applicable laws, rules, and regulations and ensures compliance with these areas


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical or Electronics preferred)
  • 7 - 10 years of high-tech manufacturing engineering experience
  • 5 years of experience managing a manufacturing engineering team
  • Lean/6 Sigma Black or Green Belt certification preferred
  • Experience with ERP, PLM and Manufacturing Execution (MES) systems
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees
  • Basic project management principles and practices

Preference will be given to candidates with the following skills and experience:

  • Strong people management and motivational skills
  • Manufacturing Test Engineering background
  • SAP experience
