Firmware Validation Specialist

Avigilon’s solutions have been installed at thousands of customer sites, including school campuses, transportation systems, healthcare centers, public venues, critical infrastructure, prisons, factories, casinos, airports, financial institutions, government facilities, and retailers.

 

As a member of the Firmware Validation team, you will be working alongside other validation specialists to ensure that our products not only work as designed but also perform with a high level of quality and reliability.  Validation tasks include feature testing on new and existing products and development of automated tests using Python.  As a firmware validation specialist you can expect to work closely with the firmware development team to gain a deep understanding of firmware components to reproduce and resolve issues uncovered during testing.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist with development and maintenance of an automated build system
  • Assist with development and maintenance of an automated test framework
  • Develop test scripts using Python to automate functional testing of the devices under test (cameras)
  • Execute test plans and identify and document any issues discovered during testing
  • Collaborate closely with firmware developers to reproduce and resolve any issues uncovered in the tests
  • Establish a deep understanding of all firmware components and their interactions

Qualifications: 

  • Proficient with Python or another scripting language
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting capability
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Good understanding of networking protocols (HTTP, TCP, UDP, IP)
  • Experience with test management and issue tracking tools
  • Experience with debugging tools and version control systems
  • Experience with embedded systems
  • Experience with development in a Linux environment
  • Experience with C++, Make and bash
  • Knowledge of digital imaging/photography and audio/video coding
