Lead Software Engineer, Front-End

Position Overview:

Avigilon is seeking a Lead Software Engineer, Front End (React) for our Cloud Services team. This person should be passionate about leading development of our web clients and changing the physical security industry by providing a proactive and responsive approach to security and video monitoring. This person will work with a small team of front-end, back-end, iOS, and android engineers.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Create cutting edge web applications in React focused on usability, responsiveness, configuration, and presentation of data through visualizations
  • Lead a team of 2-3 engineers in web client development
  • Leverage current technologies to build modern, functional, responsive web clients using React
  • Evaluate and utilize the latest concepts, tools, and technologies
  • Peer review code for adherence to coding standards and design guidelines
  • Collaborate with UX and visual designers on proposed designs
  • Collaborate with the Automation and Test team on identifying test cases for new features and regression testing

 

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of front-end software development experience
  • 5+ years as an individual contributor developing JavaScript applications
  • 2+ years managing a team of engineers and/or projects
  • Experience developing production quality consumer-facing React applications using tools like React, Redux, yarn, npm
  • Solid understanding of data structures, asynchronous architectures and building data-intensive applications
  • You are equally excited to build a minimum viable product as you are cementing a feature in maintainable and tested code
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to produce clear, concise documentation
  • Degree in Computer Science, a related technical discipline, or related experience
  • You are intellectually curious, passionate, focused on quality and sweat the details

 

Preferences will be given to candidates with the following skills and experience:

  • Experience with charting and visualization libraries (D3.js, KendoUI)
  • Building real-time applications using technologies like Websockets, Socket.io, SignalR
  • Scripting languages and version control systems (Git, Mercurial)
