Job Description

SMT Operator II – PM Shift

Plano, Texas

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the SMT Operator II is an integral role in our manufacturing processes. This role is responsible for operation of SMT manufacturing equipment with minimal interruptions, must troubleshoot and identify issues following ESD safety guidelines. The incumbent must have high attention to detail and the ability to read, follow and execute instructions per Company guidelines.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Verify components according to the kit list
  • Ability to modify SMT programs according to operating instructions
  • Troubleshoot interruptions to production flow
  • Set up and replenish component reels
  • Operation of equipment including screen printer, SMT machines, reflow oven and AOI machine
  • Inspect panels for correct component placement and make corrections as required
  • Storing completed panels in appropriate storage area
  • Complete production documentation as required
  • Perform level 2 equipment maintenance tasks as required
  • Report machine and quality issues to Team Lead
  • Comply with Company guidelines, safe work procedures and regulatory requirements per Avigilon Quality System
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functions
  • Follow ESD safe handling practices
  • Other duties as assigned


  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum two years’ experience as an SMT Machine Operator required  
  • Knowledge of electronic components and IPC standards
  • High attention to detail and operating parameters is essential
  • Ability to troubleshoot all areas of SMT manufacturing process
  • Willingness to advance operating skills
  • Ability to work in a fast pace environment while maintaining a dedication to quality and safety
  • Following direction while working with a team and maintaining a positive and respectful workplace
  • Ability to use critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Good communication skills and the ability to read, write and speak English

Working Conditions:

  • Standing and walking for extended periods of time
  • Some bending, stooping, crouching, twisting and overhead lifting
  • Regular lifting of up to 15 lbs
  • Minimal to no travel
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as required
