    Avigilon (TSX: AVO) provides trusted security solutions to the global market. Avigilon designs, develops, and manufactures video analytics, network video management software and hardware, surveillance cameras, and access control solutions. Avigilon’s solutions have been installed at thousands of customer sites, including school campuses, transportation systems, healthcare centers, public venues, critical infrastructure, prisons, factories, casinos, airports, financial institutions, government facilities, and retailers.

     

    As part of our Agile software development team, you will participate in the creation of the next generation of platforms for Avigilon's market-leading security products. These products are responsible for the storage, management and processing of video, audio and metadata. They include high throughput networking, video analytics, video processing, and data storage subsystems.

     

    Responsibilities include:

     

    • Using C++ to produce robust, high performance, scalable application software;
    • Acting as a member of a scrum team responsible for features required to deploy new platforms/appliances in our video surveillance and security portfolio;
    • Designing, creating, maintaining, and delivering code and scripts for an embedded Linux environment;
    • Helping with the architecture, design, and delivery of secure, concurrent, networked software components.

    Qualifications:

    • A degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline with 1-3 years of industry experience;
    • Demonstrated C++ design and programming ability (including new C++11 and C++14 features);
    • Strong knowledge of multithreaded operating systems, performance, applications and concepts;
    • Knowledge of IP networking applications and concepts, OpenSSL;
    • Firm understanding of PC hardware components;
    • Excellent verbal and written communications skills;
    • A demonstrated pragmatic approach to problem solving.

    Preference will be given to candidates with the following skills and experience:

    • Knowledge of digital video/audio codecs, standards, transport and concepts;
    • Experience using boost;
    • Experience with Go (Golang);
    • Experience with Linux kernel and device drivers;
    • Experience with The Yocto Project.
