    Digital Communications Specialist (MAT Leave Contract)

Avigilon’s solutions have been installed at thousands of customer sites, including school campuses, transportation systems, healthcare centers, public venues, critical infrastructure, prisons, factories, casinos, airports, financial institutions, government facilities, and retailers.


    Position Overview:

    Reporting to the Manager of Global Communications, the Digital Communications Specialist will help drive Avigilon’s PR and social media objectives. You will craft persuasive messages to communicate with media, and will be comfortable actively pitching and liaising with media to help promote Avigilon to an external audience.  You will also continuously seek new ways to help improve the Company’s corporate brand and identity in the industry.  A key component to this role will be to map the media landscape in our key markets and beyond, and identify new media opportunities for Avigilon within the online, print, and broadcast domains.


    This is a fast-paced, growth orientated environment, and this role will provide an exciting and challenging opportunity for a talented communicator to help grow Avigilon. 


    Responsibilities include:


    • Help draft content (e.g. press releases, blog posts) for online, print, broadcast media and Avigilon’s website
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with reporters in technology, security and broader sectors
    • Develop overall talking points, media briefing materials and media plans in coordination with other team members as appropriate
    • Assist with marketing and communications materials as it pertains to brand identity for Avigilon
    • Maintain up to date media lists and knowledge of reporters at various publications
    • Provide regular and detailed evaluation of media coverage on assigned brands/competitor brands using internal monitoring service




    • 2+ years of prior experience in communications, media, or PR or related field
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a discipline such as Marketing, Public or Media Relations, Communications, or a related field
    • Thorough understanding of branding and communication principles and tactics
    • Meticulous copy editing skills with strong attention to detail
    • Experience generating media coverage
    • Strong track record of branding and corporate identity building
    • Public company experience with tight disclosure controls
    • Agency experience is a plus but not mandatory
